Weekend edit

The weekend has been and gone once again. Noooo. Whether you like to strip things back and rock that nude, no-makeup face or you want to spend a little more time on your morning routine because you aren't tryin' to beat the clock. The world is your oyster. Do what you wanna do.

So, without further ado let me talk you through a few bits "n" pieces that I have been reaching for this weekend as part of my own "get ready with me"...

Clarins liquid bronze tanning or face and décolleté- There is something about those warmer, sunshiny days that instantly make want to bust out a bit of faux glow. Truth be told, I am still something of a tanning novice and always err on the side of caution when attempting to give myself that healthy glow. For nervous nellies like me this product is perfect. Thanks to Anna aka Vivivanna Does Makeup, this purchase was ideal to prop on my shelf for when the sunshine rolls around. The added plus is that this 125ml bottle will last you forever. I'm serious. Two summers in and my original bottle is still goin'...

How do you use it? It's easy... just add a little of the liquid to a cotton pad and sweep it across your entire face after you have cleansed, moisturised and all that other good stuff. Pop the pad in the bin and you are good to go with your simple summer base, or if you are feelin' brave just add a touch of concealer in all the right places. This gives an added boost to those weary days when you could do with a little more pep in your step. Followed up with a dash of the Soap and Glory Solar Powder and you can cheat your way to a mini beach break. Ssshhh, we won't tell if you don't...

Embryolisse Hydra Masque- Weekends are ideal for a mini pamper sesh. It's best to get into a little routine to ensure you take those extra few minutes to take care of yourself. Masks come in all shapes and sizes- peels, creams, self-heating, cloth, clay...there are plenty of options out there. This mask is clear and has the consistency of a thick cream, so you won't be walking around your flat looking like an extra from Scream. Slick on a thick layer just before bed so you can beautify yourself as you sleep win or sling it in your carry on for a long haul flight. Love the distraction of a mini-plane pamper routine whilst you are jet-settin' to foreign lands. Aeroplane air can suck the moisture out of your skin, so remove your daily makeup as soon as you board, get comfy, and you won't need to worry about scaring the person sitting next to you.

Ion Hot Oil treatment- Girls, we need to be better about looking after our barnets. Brushing, snagging, heat styling, weather, pollution... everything takes its toll and our dos can be left a little less than perky. I picked up a couple of these handy hot oil treatments on an impromptu trip to Sally's. Ideal for a day when you are moochin' around your flat or enjoying a weekend pamper ritual. Easy peasy. This little bottle is a one-time use, so pop it under the tap or in a cup of hot water for 1 minute and then massage onto wet hair. Continue with the rest of your usual routine, you know..latherin' up, shavin' etc.. and rinse it clean, shampoo and condition etc. This adds life and shine to dull locks, and things will certainly not be lack lustre.. Swish, swish...

Kiko Rock Attraction blush (02 Guitar Rose)- I have already mentioned my relatively new love affair with Kiko. I snatched up this blush in an on-line order during one of their sales. First up, if you adore cute detail and fun packaging, Kiko score full marks with this little offering. A vibrant pink colour, the blush is in the shape of a denim jean pocket that ties in well with the corresponding blue front. You'll want to go in with a light hand with this one. Careful now. Just dip your brush in the blush, swirl a couple of times and pop a little of the colour onto the apples of your cheeks. For a softer finish take some of the excess product off on the back of your hand first. Should you have a light base or naked face, blush is the perfect addition to wake up your complexion and will leave you feeling pinky and perky.

Rimmel Lasting Finish foundation (100 ivory)- I was quick to snatch up this foundation for my collection. Anna(VDM) deserves the credit for this recommendation, once again. This is a top drug store option and if you are lucky you can pick it up on offer during the usual Boots/Superdrug promotions, so keep your eyes peeled. If you want a couple of steps above a tinted moisturised or BB cream and need a longer lasting base to see you through the work day until bed time, this is it. The trick in applying this foundation? Work with thin layers. You can always build things up, but it is much harder to take away when you have slapped it on without thinking. The product claims to last for 25 hours, but I am never quite sure why you would need it to (I don't tend to wear makeup in bed, do you?) What I will say is that it is moisturising and hydrating, which are huge in my book. It also contains SPF 20, so you can pat yourself on the back for taking extra care against those harmful rays.

Mac eyeshadow (Soba)- This soft taupe/goldy shadow proves that less really can be more. Mac shadows usually have great colour pay off and their finely milled texture makes them smooth and a dream to blend out. An Amazing choice for your everyday make-up and helps accentuate your peepers for those blue-eyed girls. As a satin finish, this is a great lid colour or you can just pop a little in your crease. You can also take a little on a pencil brush to warm things up under your lower lash line. I love this shade of brown with it's subtle golden shimmer and have found myself reaching for it most days. It adds a little interest without falling entirely into either matte or shimmer. For the more daring amongst you, try a touch of this to define your brows (don't freak out because of the shimmer) or as a contour. Super versatile, right? You could be forgiven for giving this a miss at your local counter as it doesn't really "wow" in the pan, but do me a favour and try it out. It may be somewhat of an unsung hero, but it is likely to be love at first swipe...

Maybelline Color Sensational Shine Gloss-(Stellar Berry)- These high shine, luxurious glosses are great to add to your kit or pop in your handbag to perk up your look during the day. I don't frequently reach for a gloss, as many brands miss the mark.. Sticky, gloopy and a nightmare if you have long hair and are running for that bus. These glide on and feel nourishing without leaving you in a sticky sitch. Available in 12 different shades, you can add a pop of colour in Spring or Summer or keep things neutral and quite understated. Beautiful pigmentation, simple packaging, lovely feel, opaque, long-lasting and a nice little applicator. I'm sold.

Korres fragrance White Tea, Bergamot and Fressia- I had never tried any of the Korres fragrances before, but this was a happy little find at Feel Unique. A great choice for tapping into that summer vibe, I find myself allured by citrus and floral notes with bursts of white tea, fressia, bergamot, tangerine and neroli. I love how fresh and inviting this delicate and sweet-toned scent smells. With 90% natural ingredients it could be a good option for sensitive souls that find it tricky to select a scent that doesn't react. The packaging looks clean and is a fine addition to any dresser. It is 100% recyclable so you can do your bit for the environment. Bonus. If you love the fragrance you can pick up the shower gel and other pieces from the collection. This is quite simply an evening on the Med, in a bottle.

So, what was in your weekend edit? What are you reachin' for time after time?...Enquiring minds, and all that...
